Cyberport in Hong Kong recently celebrated the graduation of 190 start-ups from its Cyberport Entrepreneurship Programmes. These programs provide essential support to early-stage companies, offering training, professional guidance, and funding to help turn innovative ideas into market-ready tech solutions. In addition to these resources, graduates receive free office space and continued entrepreneurial backing, enabling them to scale their businesses effectively. The event also included the annual meeting of the Cyberport Startup Alumni Association and the Cyberport Professional Services Network Summit, further fostering collaboration and networking within the community.
Since its inception, Cyberport has helped to grow and support more than 2,100 start-ups, including a publicly listed company and eight unicorns. In the 2023/24 year alone, 130 new companies joined the Cyberport Incubation Programme, bringing the total number of incubated companies to 1,316. These businesses are working across a variety of sectors, from optimizing societal operations to driving smart city development and contributing to the growing digital economy.
This year, Cyberport saw a remarkable surge in the number of start-ups graduating from its programs. Among the notable graduates were FCC Analytics, a FinTech firm focused on anti-money laundering compliance solutions; Moonfare Asia; Diginex Solutions; and EmergentX. In the AI sector, Votee AI developed advanced Cantonese language models, while SPEEQO created an AI-powered tool for analyzing children’s emotional states. Many graduates are also making strides in the smart living and smart cities sectors, with companies like Avalon SteriTech, Papabo, Make the Dot, and Kicks-Crew standing out. The digital entertainment space is also thriving, with companies such as Digital Art Fair Asia and TELEPORT Immersive bringing together creativity, science, and technology to transform the industry.
The success of Cyberport’s start-ups extends beyond their innovation. Collectively, the start-up community has raised over HK$41.2 billion in funding, won more than 1,600 awards, and secured over 500 intellectual property rights. The community has also participated in 270 global accelerator programs and supported over 300 companies that have expanded to 35 international markets. These start-ups come from a diverse range of backgrounds, with founders hailing from 25 countries and regions worldwide.
