The National Bassac Theatre Festival, also known as the Lakhon Bassac Festival 2024, will be held with the aim of promoting and preserving the values of traditional arts and culture.
According to the notice from the ministry of culture and fine arts on Friday, the ministry will organise the “Nationwide Lakhon Bassac Theatre Festival 2024,” which will be held for three days from October 25–27, 2024, at the Department of Visual Arts in Phnom Penh, with a broadcast on Facebook.
The purpose of organizing this cultural event is to preserve and promote the values of arts, culture, national traditions, and identity, thereby contributing to societal development and enhancing national prestige. Additionally, it aims to encourage artists specializing in Lakhon Bassac to revitalize their artistic endeavors.
Lakhon Bassac troupes across the country are invited to compete in the three-day festival, and the three best groups will be selected along with two other teams for honorary classification.
