LEGGINGS
A cross between tights and pants, this new genre of clothing is here to stay. Though they started as controversial and see-through, the manufacturers have made them more appropriate for their use as pants by making them thicker and completely opaque. The best way to wear them for more formal occasions is in neutral colors with ankle boots and a tunic top. If you make sure to accessorize well, they can easily be dressed up for a date or a night out with friends. The wildly patterned styles are obviously reserved for casual occasions or lounging at home. While many women wear them almost every day, the jury is still out about whether they will ever be appropriate for the office.
As leggings have become a staple in every woman’s wardrobe, we’re getting used to seeing them worn more and more as pants, and dressy ones at that! Since it seems business casual is all the rage, we took a look at the traditional pencil skirt versus the oh-so-comfortable leggings to weigh the pros and cons of each.
PENCIL SKIRTS
Wearing a pencil skirt can be one of the sexiest business outfits around, but its versatility isn’t used nearly enough. It doesn’t need to be reserved for the office, since the trend for spring 2015 showed many designers having fun with mixing formal attire with casual. Pairing this form-fitting skirt with a pair of designer trainers and a graphic tee can repurpose this standard clothing item. As always, throwing on your favorite black pencil skirt with a flirty blouse and a pair of heels is the perfect date outfit.
