Materials Needed:
- · Electrical or painters tape
- Foam brush or craft brush
- Gold gild paint
- Vase or tin to paint
- Gloves
Step 1: Set up a painting station in a well-ventilated area. Do not paint indoors as the fumes from gild are very strong. Use old newspaper or scrap cardboard to paint over. Wear gloves when painting as the gild can irritate skin.
Step 2: Tape off the object with electrical tape. Paint above or below the taped line to create a block of gold or use tape to create a striped pattern.
Step 3: Paint the object using a foam brush. Dip the brush into the liquid gild but do not saturate the brush. Gently dot the paint onto the surface. This technique creates a texture that looks like hammered metal. If you want a smoother surface, use a craft brush and paint in one direction.
Step 4: Let object dry upside down for one hour. You may need an additional coat. Let each coat dry for at least one hour outside or in a well-ventilated area.
Step 5: Unpeel tape to reveal your new luxe accessories! Peel tape slowly instead of ripping for clean lines.
