Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra hosts its second edition of the Ekarieach Multi-Arts Competition on January 4, 2025. This event celebrates the enhancement of artistic talents and the exchange of cultural profundity between local and international art communities.
This year’s theme, “Water” (“L’Eau”/“Teuk”), highlights water’s vital role in life, culture, and the environment, including issues like scarcity and pollution. Out of over 200 submissions, 65 pieces were shortlisted by a jury of esteemed art professionals, including Ms. Lysine Khao, Ms. Adrienne Ravez, Mr. Casey Barnett, Mr. Denis Laurent, Mr. Charles-Henri Chevet, Mr. Jean Morel, and Mr. Pierre Rol.
This competition, founded by Mr. Charles-Henri Chevet, Mr. Jean Morel, and Mr. Pierre Rol, is expanded in its second year to include photography and digital art, in addition to the traditional mediums of art design, drawing, painting, and sculpture.
As a strong advocate for the arts, Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra is the main sponsor, contributing to a prize pool of $5,000. Awards include a $2,000 Jury Award and $750 for each of the four category winners (Art Design, Drawing, and Painting; Sculpture; Fine Art Photography; Digital Graphic Art). Corporate sponsors are expected to contribute to additional prizes.
Established in 2023, the Ekarieach Multi-Arts Competition has quickly become a significant cultural event in Phnom Penh, providing a platform for artists to explore impactful themes. The exhibition showcasing the selected works will be open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM at The Gallery & the lobby of Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.
