French cult label Sonia Rykiel marches to its own beat with
a unique print
The forth outing by head honcho Julie de Libran after taking over from founder Sonia Rykiel continues to expand on the brand’s quintessential French repertoire, this time with help from collage artist Maggie Cardelús who came up with a unique print that features the brand’s women such as Sonia, daughter Lola, De Libran and Cardelús herself. The print turned up seamlessly in a narrow and lanky silhouette in the form of leather skirtsuits and ruffled silk dresses.
And speaking of prints, Rykiel’s famous stripes made a return albeit with a twist. As a compact knit on long coats, sailor chic on high-waisted flare pants, bedazzling in alternating bands of sequins and lacquered lace. What a befitting tribute to Rykiel who was front-row and center at the show, watching like a proud mother.
