A UTI. otherwise known as a urinary tract infection, is an infection affecting a woman’s kidneys, bladder, and urethra, but mainly located in the lower urinary tract. Some women know it as fire pee because it goddamn burns. The main symptoms are pain and burning when urinating and the main cause of UTIs is bacteria to the bladder through sexual intercourse. Some women just have bodies prone to UTIs from their unfortunate genetics.
- Don’t hold it in!
Go pee when you have to pee, because even though you known there is a big percentage it will burn like hell. it will be better to let it out then let the bacteria fester.
- Water, Water, Water
You may not want to drink a lot of water because water makes you pee and peeing is the last thing you want to do because it feels like someone’s shoving a lit match up your urethra, but water is the best way to flush out the bacteria.
- Eat food high in water content
Snack on cucumbers and watermelon. Any extra fluids you can get in your body is best! You need to completely rinse out your insides to push the infection out so be aware of everything you are putting into your body.
- Heat
Apply heat on your bladder. Just like when PMSing and cramping so hard you want to take your life, the heat helps. Heat brings relief and relaxes your muscles helping diffuse the inflammation. Use a hot water bottle, or as the Irish call it- a silent husband, which always gives me a chuckle, is one great way of applying heat.
- Ginger Tea
Ginger is a natural healer. Ginger has a chemical that blocks prostaglandin synthesis, which in layman’s terms prostaglandin synthesis causes inflammation and irritation and ginger is the super-hero fighting it away.
- Cranberry Juice
Cranberry juice is the most well known cure for UTIs. Anytime another girl spots another female drinking cranberry juice she knows what’s up. It’s a little bit of pity for their pain and a little bit of “you’re a nasty bitch”. Cranberry juice is the number one sign that a woman has a UTI. But hey sometimes a girl just wants cranberry juice and you have to be like- “it’s not what you thing guys”.
The main take-away to heal a UTI is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate to flushing out all the toxins to recoup as fast as possible.
