Re-Vamp your bathroom
6 Steps that will get you there.
Bathrooms are often the smallest room in the house, and yet, one of the most important ones! We might not realize just how much time we spend in there, and how a few, simple tips can help transform it into a soothing, relaxing place to be.
Color scheme.
Don’t be afraid to re-think the color of your bathroom walls. Changing the color scheme is often cheap enough (make sure to use glossy or semi-glossy paints, as there is usually a lot of moisture) and can have a dramatic overall effect. Having very dark colors may make the bathroom seem even smaller than it is, while having pretty pastels, white or off-white can bring more light to the room as well as making it look more sophisticated. Everything else you integrate into this space will play off of this initial color palette.
Let the angry birds fly.
Your shower curtain can make or break the overall look of your bathroom. So many times, it has cartoons (Angry birds, Dora the Explorer, Garfield) stamped all over it, or it is dirty and slightly worn out. Having a clean shower curtain in a neutral color, such as white, can give bathroom a more modern air. If you’d like your to go with a bolder color, make sure it doesn’t clash with the color of your walls, towels or mat; color- coordinating these key items will make this infinitely more appealing to the eyes!
Soften it up.
Often, we have something resembling rough, mismatched rags for towels, featuring all sorts of day-time t.v. characters. Take a Sunday stroll to the nearest market with a specific color palette in mind (beige, soft yellow, brown or white are always good) and equip yourself with some new, soft, fluffy towels to wrap yourself up in once you’re out of the shower. If you’re out for a splurge, get some hand towels that are in a similar color to hang next to the sink. Next, set out to find a cushy mat that matches the color of your towels. Place it right outside of the shower to dry your feet with. It without goes that those old towels should be removed from bathroom (you can always cut them up and use the as cleaning rags).
Do some spring cleaning.
Us Ladies can often be in a big rush to get ready for work in the morning and then like to take our time to get ready at night before going out. With this in mind, it is good to keep some sort of order going on. Go through your medical cabinet and your makeup box; what items can you do without? If you haven’t used something for the past couple of months, chances that will in the near you future are slim, get rid of it! For your personal products, get yourself some cute, inexpensive wicker baskets or storage to put things in. It helps greatly if you do this by categories (hair products, makeup, skin care, feminine hygiene, etc). Next let’s take a look at your counter space. Select a few items that you use on a daily basis, but make sure that they are things that you like looking at, such as your favorite blush, a bottle of your day perfume and your go-to moisturizer. Find a pretty mug you like looking at and both toothbrush and put your toothpaste in it to keep them from lying about.
Mirror mirror on the wall.
Us girls need different size mirrors for different things. Having an amplifying mirror in the bathroom can certainly come in handy when you’re getting your t eyebrows back into shape or applying liquid eyeliner. These mirrors are usually small enough to fit in your handbag, but when they make it back to your house, it is better to store them in your makeup box; this will avoid it slipping and ending up on the floor.
Finishing touches.
You will find that the smallest of changes can go long way in your bathroom re-vamp. Appeal to your senses by re-thinking your soap. Scented (try vanilla or lavender for a soothing effect), bottled soaps that are neatly placed by the sink are less n bars. The same thing goes for shower gel.
